ALBANY, Ga. (September 12, 2019) – Albany State University head men’s basketball coach Patrick Gayle announces the 2019-20 schedule. The 28-game schedule includes 14 home games, and 14 road contests. The Albany State University Golden Rams will tip-off their 2019 season on the road at Valdosta State University on November 9-10th at the SIAC-Gulf South Challenge.
The Golden Rams will return for its home season opener against Valdosta State University (Nov. 14) and Columbus State University (Nov. 15). ASU will then travel to Americus, GA, to play Georgia Southwestern State (November 18) before returning home for its SIAC conference opener against Spring Hill College on November 23. ASU will then travel to West Palm Beach, Fla. for a match-up against Palm Beach Atlantic University (Nov. 30).
In December, ASU host two contests against Tuskegee (Dec. 2) and Georgia Southwestern State University (Dec. 5). The Golden Rams will then hit the road for two games against Columbus State University (Dec. 7) and Lane College (Dec. 14). ASU will then continue its 2019 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) conference play at home as they host the Thorobreds of Kentucky State on December 19. Following the competition, the Golden Rams will face the Marauders of Central State University on December 21.
Returning from the holiday break, the Golden Rams will resume conference play with five (5) consecutive road games against the Magicians of LeMoyne-Owen College on January 4, the Golden Bears of Miles College on January 6, the Maroon Tigers of Morehouse College on January 11, the Lions of Paine College on January 18 and the Tigers of Benedict College on January 20. ASU will face I-75 rival, Fort Valley State University, in HPER Gym before hosting the Panthers of Clark Atlanta University on January 27.
The Golden Rams will face SIAC opponent, Savannah State University on February 1 at home. The Golden Rams will then travel to Savannah, GA for a match-up against Savannah State University, on February 10. On February 15, ASU will then hit the road as they match up against I-75 rival Fort Valley State University (February 15) and Clark Atlanta University (February 17). The Golden Rams will then host he Lions of Paine College followed by the Tigers of Benedict College on February 22. The Golden Rams will close out the regular season at home as they face the Maroon Tigers of Morehouse College on February 25.
Following the close of regular season play, the Golden Rams will then travel to Rock Hill, SC for the 2020 SIAC Basketball Tournament on March 1- March 7.
